T&D Keys

Members will be aware by now that the use of T & D Keys is banned within BT’s workforce.

You should also be  aware that it is a disciplinary offence to be caught using them, or carrying them on your vehicle.

Even managers do not carry them anymore.

The four person lift is now non-existent.

The amnesty that was agreed for the handing in of these keys has long since passed.

If you have sets of these on your vehicle and wish to dispose of them without recriminations, then contact your branch, or local Union Safety Representative who will make arrangements to take them from you and dispose of them safely.

Names will NOT be divulged.

The Manhole Lifter No.4 is the only recognised method for opening carriageway covers and if you have difficulty using it because of the terrain, your manager must arrange for a contractor to come along and open it for you.

DON’T RISK YOUR BACK, OR YOUR JOB

 GET RID OF THE KEYS.

(With acknowledgement to David Smith West, Wales & The Marches Safety Committee)
