At last weekend’s successful National Youth Education Event
the CWU Youth website was officially opened for business.
This is a keystone in the UMF YES Project arch and will
hopefully become the pivotal point where our young members can congregate online
and share information and best practice.
The site is growing all the time and already contains a
vast range of information about up and coming events, topical stories of the
week, photos and opinions.
Young members can create a profile and join in debates on
blogs, use the resource pages to find information like the role of a branch
youth officer and how to set up your first meeting. There is a thesaurus of
union speak to aid those new to the union or those wishing to join the union.
CWU Youth has its own Youtube and podcast channels which
are being updated all the time. And there is a lot more in the pipeline.
So branches are asked to encourage all their young members
aged under 30 to visit the site and create a profile. All profiles that are
created between now and the end of the year will be entered into a prize draw
to win £50 worth of vouchers.
It will be a fantastic resource for our young activists and
it will only grow and grow. So please share this information as widely as
possible. We want young members to become involved, to become active and to
stay active.
Any queries on this should be directed to my office at CWU
headquarters.
